Clinical Perspectives on Women's Health
November 21 - 23, 2014
The presentation will discuss the clinical application and integration of mind-body medicine and the therapeutic benefits of mindfulness-based and guided-imagery-based therapeutics, principles and perspectives for women with chronic health concerns. The talk will combine lecture, case studies, relevant research, experiential exercises and focus on mind-body skills and their practical application to use with patients.
Disease tells a story not just of the cell but of the self. We will discuss the importance of narrative medicine, the therapeutic relationship and the pathways through which biography becomes biology. We’ll explore the unique outcome evoked through listening to symptoms and inner wisdom. We will understand how to use mind-body processes in order to guide women to look within for the meaning, message and opportunity of their illness as an integral part of treatment, combining healing and curing. We will discuss the latest relevant research in mind-body medicine, psychoneuroimmunology, epigenetics and neurobiology, connecting it to our naturopathic core principles and clinical practice: treat the whole, treat the person, treat the underlying cause, do no harm, doctor as teacher, and activate the Vis and healing from within.
